Strawberry Spinach Salad

If you have spinach in your garden, you will love this strawberry spinach salad! I love fresh salads, and this is one of our family’s favorites. It’s healthy with spinach, Craisins, chopped cashews, freshly sliced strawberries, and bacon. The dressing is a little sweet, but not overbearing, so it makes the perfect dressing, and it’s a bonus because it’s made from scratch.

By now you know one of my mottos is fresh is best. This salad has crunch, and a sweet flavor, drizzled with a freshly made homemade dressing.

Step Two: Thaw Strawberries

In case you missed how I store my fresh strawberries, this is how they will keep longer. Please don’t wash them until you are ready to use them. Place your fresh strawberries on some folded paper towels in a few airtight containers and they will last a few extra days when stored in the refrigerator. These are the ones I use. Rubbermaid Containers I have to have easy-to-open and easy-to-close containers with my arthritic hands.

Life is so good when you can remove the stem and slice your fresh strawberries, right? This is the Stem Remover Huller and this is the Strawberry/Egg/ Mushroom Slicer.

I would highly recommend assembling this salad right before you are planning to serve it. This will keep the spinach and other ingredients fresh and crisp.

Could I use a different type of lettuce to make this salad?

I like the flavor of the spinach in this salad! The deep color of green along with the colors of the toppings makes this salad a very beautiful salad to serve. I do feel that romaine, iceberg, arugula, butter lettuce, or any other lettuce you choose would also taste delicious. There are so many different options you can use to your liking!

Would a different flavor of onion work in this recipe?

I really like the flavor of the red onions. They tend to be a more mild onion and a little less overpowering than other options. I feel the red onions help to tie the flavor of all of the ingredients together! If you like a stronger flavor of onion, you are welcome to use a different variety, such as white or yellow onion.

  • Barbecue chicken or steak
  • Dinner rolls
  • Fresh fruit
  • Sandwiches

Could I use a different flavor of jam in the salad dressing?

Can I use precooked bacon instead of cooking fresh bacon?

This salad tastes great with either precooked or fresh bacon. The bacon in this recipe is a must, whether pre-cooked or fresh. It really adds a great element of flavor to the salad!

This looks delicious! Perfect for summer! We have a bbq this weekend, this would be perfect to take! Thank you sooo much for sharing!❤️

  2. 5 stars
I’ve made this and it IS delicious! As a rule I don’t use any salad dressing aside from some lemon juice and that’s what I did with this one. So, the five stars are for the salad alone, since I didn’t make the dressing.
