First Aid Kit For Survival

First Aid Kit For Survival

How to make a first aid kit for survival has been on my mind a lot lately. I recently had a reader ask me about the quality of my Stanley Fat Max. She didn’t know I had made a first aid kit with one. So I updated this post today. You may remember I wrote a post about my portable kitchen. Portable Kitchen

I’m grateful I have neighbors who will call me when they have giant hives and ask if I have some Benadryl. Of course, I do.

His wife called me and the first thing I asked his wife was, “Is he having trouble breathing because if he is, call 911”. This is the third time I have been over to help this wonderful neighbor of mine. He was not having trouble breathing, thank goodness!

I asked, “does it feel like your airway is closing?” He said no to his wife who relayed that message to me as I’m talking on my cell phone running over to their house with my bottle of Benadryl.

After I entered through their front door, I told his wife to give him two right now and I will check on him every hour by phone. I’m grateful they called me and I was able to help them ward off the expense of an emergency room visit.

His wife called me around 8:30 p.m. that night to reassure me he was doing very well. They both know me well enough to understand that I care so much for their well-being.

I could sleep better knowing he was finally able to stop the scratching and he was going to be okay. Remember, I am not a doctor, a nurse, or a medical caretaker, I’m just a neighbor and a friend.

I also designed a first aid kit for a college student because my beautiful granddaughter was going off to college, and of course, this grandma wants her to be prepared and not have to run to the grocery store for simple medical supplies.

Updated First Aid Kit For Survival

I really love my Plano large 6-tray tackle box, but it is very heavy and wouldn’t hold everything I wanted to have in a grab-and-go first aid kit. I now have that one and I feel much more prepared with everything I feel I need both containers, the Plano, and this new one.

This new first aid kit holds more and a few new items I felt necessary to be prepared for a neighborhood use or camping trip with the family. It’s really hot where I live in Southern Utah, so, therefore, this unit must be kept indoors or a lot of the items will deteriorate quickly.

I like that this unit opens up so I can see everything in the various compartments, and it folds down to a compact size with wheels as a bonus!

The bottom compartment holds a lot of stuff! This baby holds over 100 items and still has a little room for more! WooHoo! I love this first aid book, it’s my all-time favorite: Survival Medical Handbook. Please get one of these for your home or first aid kit. You will love it!

I love that the Stanley FatMax is easy to open and close and is very durable as well. The low price is a bonus too! Stanley FatMax 4-in1

  1. Not sure if my last comment took – Internet went out.

This is a great idea – the wheeled toolbox for first aid supplies.

We have 3 different and inefficient cases for our supplies (that aren’t in cupboards).

I will upgrade to this idea ASAP with a used tool box purchase as soon as I can find one. Thanks!

    1. HI Simon, I was so frustrated before because I had my first aid supplies in different units. The cheapest place I found the Stanley Fat Max was on Amazon. It was more expensive at Home Depot. Good luck!! Linda
