Candy Cane Kiss Sugar Cookies Recipe

Today, I’m sharing my candy cane kiss sugar cookies recipe with you. My granddaughter is living with me for a year while she goes to school here in Southern Utah.

This is a wonderful recipe to make with friends and family. So having my granddaughter here is the perfect time to make these for the holidays.

The cookie is crisp on the outside and moist and chewy on the inside. You will love biting into one of those peppermint kisses in the cookies we can only get once a year, right?

The combination of sugar cookies, crushed candy canes, and a kiss in the middle of each cookie makes these the perfect holiday treat.

Kitchen Tools Needed

Step One

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine the powdered sugar, butter, egg, and extracts in a large mixing bowl.

Step Two

Beat the mixture until creamy and smooth, scraping the bowl often, about 3-4 minutes. In another bowl combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, then whisk together.

Step Three

Combine the creamy mixture with the flour mixture and mix thoroughly. It will be a bit crumbly. Now stir in the chopped Hershey® candy cane kisses.

Step Four

The next step is to make one-inch in diameter cookie balls and roll them in sugar to coat them. Place the balls on a cookie sheet with parchment paper or on a greased cookie sheet.

Step Five

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until set.

Step Six

After baking, remove them from the oven. Let the cookies cool down for about 2-3 minutes. They need to cool down BEFORE you place the Hershey® candy cane kiss in the center of them or they will melt the candy kiss.

The cookies may split ever so slightly, so use your fingers to press them together when you put the kiss in each one.

Step Seven

Place the cookies in the freezer while on the cookie sheet immediately to set the cookies so the kiss will not soften. After the cookies are set, store them in the refrigerator.

They will keep about one week in the refrigerator. They freeze well for about 2-3 weeks.

It’s actually a really good cookie to take to a cookie exchange to trade with the others attending the party. It’s cute and festive with the red and white kiss in the center of the cookie. Here is a post on having a Cookie Exchange.

How To Choose A Serving Tray

The first thing to do is decide how many cookies you will put out to serve your guests. A white serving plate makes the best presentation to serve cookies. This is the Corelle serving tray I have, it can be used for meals and cookies.

How Do I Layer The Cookies To Serve?

Start with a plate by placing one cookie in the center. Then place a cookie in circles all the way around the center cookie. In the next layer, you will place a cookie on top of two cookies around the plate to add texture to your display.

Label Cookies For Allergies

Please label your cookies if they may have nuts or other allergens so those affected with allergies will skip those cookies.

Final Word

I’m really excited to share my candy cane kiss sugar cookies recipe with you today. Sometimes we need to have a little fun baking when there is so much negative talk going on in the world.

Besides, who doesn’t love freshly baked cookies, right? Be safe, my friends. May God bless this world, Linda
