Hydrogen Peroxide-25 Amazing Ways to Use It Today

I am always on the lookout for inexpensive items to “store” that I can use in several different ways. I want to tell you the benefits of a little bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide you can get at your local drugstore for less than a couple of dollars, depending on the size.

If you have some other ideas you use it for, I will add it to my list, thank you. I am updating this post from a few years ago. I believe it’s a great prepping item for all of us.

Hydrogen Peroxide

1. You can swish a little cap full around in your mouth for canker sores.

2. You can soak your toothbrushes in a cup of peroxide to cut down on germs.

3. Clean your countertops with a little spray of it on your dishrag.

4. Clean your “cutting boards” with a little spray of this stuff cuts down on Salmonella and other bacteria.

5. It helps with a fungus infection on your feet using a 50/50 peroxide/water solution then let your feet dry.

6. Soak an infection with some several times a day. Of course, this would depend on what type of infection. This just gives us another way to treat an infection if medical care is not an option.

7. You can also add a cup of the solution instead of bleach to a load of whites to help whiten them.

8. You can clean your mirrors with it and there is no smearing!

9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to the dentist right away, put a cap full of 3% hydrogen peroxide in your mouth to help ease the pain. Swish around and spit it out.

10. You can put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to rid boils, fungus or other skin infections.

11. Whiten your nails-soak your nails for a few minutes and see them brighten up.

12. Clean toilet bowls with a little peroxide, it’s a quick and easy way to disinfect them.

13. Scrub away your tub scum, spray peroxide in the tub, wait 20-30 minutes and wipe away the grime.

14. Spray a little hydrogen peroxide in your refrigerator to disinfect the inside and then wipe it clean.

15. Disinfect the kid’s lunchboxes with a spray and then wipe them clean.

16. I like to clean my cool mist humidifiers each week with a few tablespoons in the humidifier with cool water to clean out the stuff that “grows” in it.

17. I used this in high school to lighten my hair in the sun, spray some on and go outside.

18. You can whiten your teeth with it. Please do your own research I am not a dentist….but it’s working for me. Remember, everything in moderation. Of course, you must spit the stuff out! It’s good for a mouthwash and a whole lot cheaper.

19. Use a small scrub brush to clean your grout in between your tiles in the shower. They will whiten up really fast, rinse and you are good to go.

20. Use a cotton swab with a little peroxide on acne. Rinse and let dry.

21. Soften your corns or calluses by soaking them with equal amounts of tepid water and peroxide.

22. Vegetable wash, use 1/4 cup to a sink full of clean water for about 15 minutes. Drain and rinse with clear water. I keep reading about the Listeria bacteria going around, yikes!

23. It’s great for treating sinus infections because it gets rid of the bacteria and neutralizes the germs. I put a drop in my Neti-pot with warm clean water as directed on the box.

24. Jock Itch, mix equal parts with warm water, cheap and easy treatment to get rid of the bacteria.

25. Make a paste with 1:2 baking soda to make your own toothpaste.

Remember to exercise extreme caution when using any products. You can buy Hydrogen Peroxide solutions from 3-35% depending on how you want to use it. I only buy the 3% hydrogen peroxide because it’s not as strong.

I keep my windows open when I use any product to disinfect things. The reason they sell Hydrogen Peroxide in dark bottles is to slow down the deterioration from the light.

As always, please do your own research. I just like to have some “stuff” in my first aid stash in case medical care is not an option. This works for me and so does the price! Let me know what inexpensive first aid items you like to store. I would love to hear from you.

  1. After years of suffering a cold every Fall that was bad enough to send me to bed, I was told to try gargling with Peroxide each day after brushing my teeth. I have been doing this for 3 years now and have not had ONE Fall cold, or ANY colds at all!

  2. As to #18 – I use a Waterpik. My dental hygienist told me to put some peroxide in with the water, and I now so that every day! I learned really quick to do that before I brush my teeth – that way there’s no problem with the taste!

  3. It also kills the HIV virus. Healthcare workers are advised to use it rinse the wound if you got an accidental needle stick, a scratch or a bite from someone.

  4. Thank You for this list of uses for hydrogen peroxide. You suggested on medical use for a conditioñ that I’ve suffered with since childhood, with no cure. So I’m going to try this and will report back on the results. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
