I have an amount that I allow myself to spend each month on food storage and preparedness, but more importantly I try to make sure that I spend it and continue to build my storage.I have been getting 1-3 #10 cans per month for a year or so now and have quite a nice little food storage built up because of it. It doesn’t seem like much at the time, but it adds up.

I have been listening to Dave Ramsey for years and have tried many of his suggestions. I haven’t really used his complete program but love his philosophy.

I just recently started listening to Dave Ramsey. And just found your website. It would be so nice to win this. I am wanting to get into food storage. I just bought a cookbook so that when I get food storage I will be able to have recipes for it.

I set aside money for an emergency budget every month. I am learning more and more about food storage. This year was the first that I did a small amount of canning. Baby steps, but steps none the less.

We set aside $100 a month out of our food budget for food storage. It’s important to us that we do this. Sometimes I buy 3 month supply things and sometimes I buy long term food storage.

I try to pick up one extra food item each week, such as a can of tuna… whatever’s on sale… to go into my emergency kit. This way I don’t have to buy a lot all at once.

We always look for deals and bargain hunt. We yard sale every Friday and Saturday (picked up a extra large camping thermos today for $1 and check out Craigslist and other sites like that. We also set aside a certain amount of money each month (at least $100) to use towards emergency prepardness and food storage.

We set aside $50 a month for freeze dried food and canned goods we use regularly. We also use coupons. Over time it really adds up.

We try to put a few hundred away every few months for emergencies. We have plenty, in my opinion. :)

Sad to say….but we’d have nothing no food for emergencies! A tornado hit earlier this year 5 miles down the road and it’s scary knowing it could have been us. I wouldn’t have anything ready for an emergency like that.

I do have savings put aside for emergencies, which I am now using because I lost my job. It has been a lifesaver and I’m so glad that I had this money to rely on!

I have not. :( I am trying to get a budget going that I can start to prepare for stuff down the road, rather than always feel like I am treading water just to make ends meet.

We have just recently started budgeting for emergencies with food. We have set aside a certain amount of money each paycheck for essentials and we have started to store them in case of emergency. It is a great feeling to feel a bit more prepared in case something happens.

I never thought about saving money for food storage. I guess I have never had a chance to really stock up, since I have 6 kids and they eat everything!

Daves program is simple yet effective. We’ve completed FPU and have seen the effectiveness of budgeting and the envelope system.
