Excalibur Dehydrator Review and Giveaway

Congratulations Amanda G.

I have always wanted a dehydrator, but never knew what brand or if I would even use it.  Growing up I saw my aunt dehydrating stuff and thought it was really cool, and her house always smelled really good.   My kids love dehydrated foods and fruit leather, but I haven’t ever made it from scratch.   I am part of a produce co-op and I get a lot of fruits and veggies every week that we can’t eat fast enough.   I have done some research and came to the decision that the Excalibur was perfect for what I wanted.

When I first got the 5 Tray Excalibur Dehydrator I was thrilled to get started.  I started with apricots, pineapple (that makes your whole house smell so good), apples and bananas.  It was so easy even my kids helped me.
fruit leather, Excalibur dehydrator, Food storage, preservationI made fruit leather next.  I will share my yummy recipes with you next week.  But basically you can add any fruit that you think will taste good together and throw it in a blender and dehydrate it, and 4-6 hours later you have fruit leather.  I like to wrap it in plastic wrap and cut it in individual servings and keep it in an air tight container.

Excaliber has offered to giveaway a 4 Tray Starter called the 4-Tray STARTER-Excalibur #2400.  This is their economy model that performs like their larger models but smaller with adjustable thermostat, 4″ fan, 220 watts.  This is a perfect size for your countertop area.  I am so excited to give this away to one of our lucky readers.  4 Tray Excalibur Food Dehydrator, Food Preservation, Food Storage

My son gave me a cheap dehydrator years ago that he won in an elementary school contest. I never used it and he never let me forget that I didn’t use it. This one would be so fun to use and he’d be really happy if I won it. :O)
