Fruit: A Healthy Snack Option

Fruit: Why Do We Need to Eat It?

Fruit makes for a quick and easy snack, and also happens to be a healthy one at that. What you need to keep in mind is that food that comes directly from nature (like fruit) is better for you than food that is made or processed in a factory.

The closer to nature, the better that food is for your health.

  • By having fruit available in your home, you are giving your family a healthy snack option, instead of resorting to poor nutritional processed foods.
  • These types of snacks are loaded with refined sugars, artificial color, flavoring, and high in calories.
  • Eating processed snacks, such as potato chips, cookies, and snack cakes, is causing all kinds of health problems for people later on.
  • There are statistics that project by the year 2050, 1 in 3 people will have diabetes. Switch from these types of snacks and go with fruit more often.

Most fruit comes low in fat, sodium, and calories, which can help lower cholesterol, and helps burn fat. That’s great news for dieters and people struggling with high cholesterol.

When there is an imbalance of more oxidative stress in our bodies than a healthy defensive system that is able to detoxify them, your body is at a much higher risk to disease, especially heart disease.

Thankfully, eating fruit is a great way to help with that.

By allowing fruit to be more a part of your everyday diet, it may slow or help prevent cancer development. This is due to the antioxidants lycopene, beta-carotene, as well as vitamins C, E, and A.

Fruit Improves Your Digestive System

Eating fruits that are high in fiber and potassium will provide you with a healthy digestive system. Zinc, vitamin B6, and folate also play a role in regularity.

This can keep you from experiencing constipation, bloating, diarrhea, and extreme discomfort.

Final Word

Most of us enjoy eating fruit, but sometimes when it’s not right under our nose we quickly fall for snacks that are not as nutrient-dense.

Make eating fruit a good and healthy habit for you to get started if you haven’t already. It’s especially an important habit to get your children on board with.

Cut up some fruit and place it on the table for you and your kids. You’ll be surprised how quickly it gets gobbled up.

  1. Very good information, as usual, but there are seven fruits that’s must be buy organic.
Please look in internet for “The dirty dozen+” to know them and why.
There is also “The 15 clean” that you do not need to buy organic.
    Best regards.

  2. Eat yourself healthy! Right on.

I love to eat bananas, grapes, raisins and cheese sticks, sometimes with a granola bar. Any combination is good. I’m also terribly fond of Dole Orange-Pineapple juice.

I also like cooked apples. Hate them raw. I know they have a bit of sugar, but the doctor a day I want to keep away, doesn’t have to know about it. 🙂
